IPv4 Addresses in the APNIC Region
InterLIR Global facilitates IPv4 transactions in the APNIC region covering Asia Pacific. Buy, sell, or lease blocks for routing and operations in the Asia Pacific market.
APNIC address space geolocates to countries across Asia Pacific, enabling correct routing and geo-targeting for regional services and CDN nodes.
InterLIR Global coordinates APNIC-to-APNIC transfers and inter-RIR transactions for organizations moving address space into or out of the region.
IPv4 scarcity is acute in Asia Pacific. Blocks in APNIC are in demand for cloud, hosting, and streaming providers expanding in the region.
Organizations needing APNIC-registered space for operations can lease without a full RIR transfer, with LOA delivery after verification.
IPv4 in the APNIC Region
APNIC (Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre) administers IP address space for the Asia Pacific region — including Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, India, Singapore, Indonesia, and many other countries.
IPv4 scarcity in APNIC is among the highest of all five RIRs. The region exhausted its available IPv4 pool early, and the secondary market for APNIC address space is active and competitive.
Available Operations
| Operation | Available |
|---|---|
| Lease IPv4 (sub-assignment, no transfer) | Yes |
| Buy IPv4 (APNIC-to-APNIC transfer) | Yes |
| Sell IPv4 (APNIC-to-APNIC transfer) | Yes |
| Lease out your APNIC IPv4 block | Yes |
| Inter-RIR transfer (to/from RIPE NCC, ARIN) | Yes, where applicable |
Transfer Process and Requirements
APNIC transfers require both parties to be APNIC members or to have a sponsoring LIR:
- The Seller must be the current APNIC resource holder
- The Buyer must hold an APNIC account or be sponsored by an APNIC member organization
- Both parties must complete identity and company verification
- Resources with open disputes or routing conflicts must be resolved before transfer
InterLIR Global can facilitate sponsoring arrangements where the Buyer does not yet have APNIC membership.
Supported Block Sizes
- Lease: /24 and larger, sub-assignment available without APNIC transfer
- Purchase: /24 is the standard minimum; larger blocks available depending on available stock
- APNIC policies set specific minimum and maximum sizes for different transfer types
Transfer Timeline
APNIC transfers take longer than RIPE NCC:
- Standard APNIC-to-APNIC transfer: approximately 4–8 weeks
- Documentation verification and APNIC staff review typically takes 2–4 weeks
- Timeline varies based on both parties’ readiness and APNIC’s current review queue
Leasing is faster — a sub-assignment LOA can be delivered within 24 hours of successful verification.
Why APNIC Space Matters
For CDN nodes in Asia, cloud infrastructure serving Southeast Asia or Japan, streaming services, and gaming platforms that need accurate geolocation and low-latency routing — APNIC-registered blocks ensure that your traffic is identified as originating from the correct region.
For BYOIP into cloud providers operating in Asia Pacific regions, APNIC-registered space is typically required.
